I thought this would be a good one to start the site off with. I purchased the Dell E248WFP back in May of this year I had a good look around the Internet and found very mixed opinions, I decided to take the plunge and these are my thoughts.
The aim was to get the best value 24″ monitor I could find, although I wouldn’t buy a Dell computer, I had heard good things about there monitors. I found the monitor for £255 off a well known auction site with a no pixel guarantee and 3 year Dell warranty. You can now get it for £244 from Overclockers, I highly recommend them. Considering my previous 19″ Viewsonic monitor was £350 I was a bit skeptical of what I would get.

All ready and setup!
First impressions
Dell packaged the product really well, came with 2 monitor leads, CD which I didn’t install and instructions which of course, I didn’t read. Setup was a breeze, everything connects quickly like it should. No dead pixels!
The monitor is massive, you’re always going to think that, especially coming from a 19″ monitor but it doesn’t take long until you get used to it. Standard colors of the monitor were pretty bad, but the beauty of the Internet allows you to search for some good settings.
Design

Side Shot
You would expect cheap looking tat for the price but you get the opposite, the monitor looks really professional, border isn’t thick around the screen and the dell logo isn’t in your face like some brands. The stand makes the monitor look better and is very stable.
As mentioned in many reviews the monitor lacks a height adjustment which to me isn’t an issue at all, you can tilt the screen if needed. The monitor doesn’t have a HDMI connection which might put some off if you wish to connect a xbox 360 or ps3 to it. It’s possible using an adapter but I don’t know what the results would be like, I would still prefer to play on a HD TV.
Screen
I read a lot of different things about the monitor’s color and brightness. I read that the color shifts as you move your head, well I’ve not experienced this at all, I can stand to the side, stand up, crouch down and it’s the same to me, maybe if you stand at incredibly silly viewing angles.
As mentioned earlier, the color setup wasn’t too great, but the settings are adjustable to get you that perfect look. After some fiddling I got a setup that I was happy with and there’s plenty of forum threads discussing it.
I’m a Web Designer and always use Photoshop, I always check my work on multiple monitors but I’ve never had to come back and change the color of my site, it gets a thumbs up from me.
I’ve watched plenty of HD content and DVD’s, picture is sharp and colors are very good, never experienced any issues with the way it looks. There was noticeable bleed on my previous Viewsonic monitor, but none on this, blacks are also very good on good quality content.
I’ve read that the screen isn’t bright enough, It’s very bright and like many, I’ve turned my down, it’s my preference but I really don’t think it’s an issue.
Gaming

Good ol' Call Of Duty 4
This monitor also delivers on the gaming front, the response time is great at 5ms and playing games at 1920 x 1200 is always a great experience. Big monitors are always demanding on games to play in the higher resolutions so make sure you have a nice graphics card. I use a ATI 3870 which I got last December, it’s considered out dated now but delivers good FPS on this monitor.
Conclusion
This monitor delivers at an amazing price, monitors really have improved over the years. I was so surprised when I first got it. However, I must point out that I still read reviews about bad viewing angles, It could be a quality control issue, I honestly do not see anything.
I’m very happy that I went a head with the purchase and It’s a keeper, If you come across this review and have any questions feel free to comment and I will get back to you.
